Stop. Play. Stay

One of the Heartland's most progressive and successful small cities, Kearney lies at the center of America, 1,733 miles from San Francisco and 1,733 miles from Boston. In addition to being the meeting point of the California, Mormon and Oregon Trails, as expressed through one of our greatest assets, the Great Platte River Road Archway, Kearney offers a rich and unique history to everyone.

Kearney, the county seat of Buffalo County, is located on the north bank of the Platte River at its southernmost point.  Situated in the south-central part of the state, Kearney is served by Interstate 80; US Highway 30 ( Old Lincoln Highway); and many State Highways.  Kearney is 186 miles west of Omaha, Nebraska, and 365 miles east of Denver, Colorado.

Today, Kearney is home to over 28,000 residents who enjoy an enviable balance of urban amenities and a small town quality of life.  It's the home of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, two major hospitals, regional shopping services, cultural and recreational attractions, excellent schools, numerous corporate headquarters and many other major employers.
