Keith Blackledge: Lessons From A Community Journalist

April 16 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

The presentation about one man’s mission to make his town better teaches and encourages civic engagement. This interactive multi-media presentation
is both informative and entertaining. The presentation is filled with stories, video interview clips and photography. The program recounts Keith Blackledge’s remarkable newspaper career and his passionate advocacy for local and statewide projects at a time when local newspapers had the resources to care about their community, and when people cared about their local newspaper.

“Keith Blackledge: Lessons from a Community Journalist” incorporates stories derived from years of delving into thousands of editorials, columns and correspondence as well as countless interviews with co-workers, family and friends.  The program features video interview clips, photographs and stories covering the editor’s involvement in community projects small and large—from the planting of marigolds throughout the town to the merger of two older hospitals into the Great Plains Regional Health Center, and so many more.
