Kristine Allphin: Cold Wax Medium and Oil Painting Workshops

March 28, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

$55 – $60

Kristine Allphin: Cold Wax Medium and Oil Painting Workshops
Kristine Allphin is an established award-winning batik artist based in Hastings, Nebraska. Her large-scale prairie grass landscapes are complex, colorful and expressive. By incorporating traditional vat dying batik methods, with a non-traditional linear drawing technique, Allphin has developed a unique aesthetic style using a fine art language.

Cold Wax Medium is a soft pliable substance made with natural beeswax, odorless mineral spirit and resin. The term “cold” refers to the fact that no heat source is required to work with it. When mixed with oil paint, Cold Wax Medium creates a thick matte slow drying paste, that can be textured, layered, scraped and reworked. This painting method allows for loose, gestural, and experimental mark making. Workshop 1 introduces the fundamentals of working with Cold Wax Medium and oil paint on paper.
