March 12, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Dr. Paul Johnsgard will be available to sign books at the Audubon’s Rowe Sanctuary on March 12 from 1:00pm-3:00pm.

Dr. Paul Johnsgard is an ornithologist, artist and emeritus professor at the University of Nebraska. He produced his first book, the Handbook of Waterfowl Behaviour published by Cornell University in 1965. He is considered one of the most prolific authors of ornithology books.

A true partner with the conservation efforts of Audubon’s Rowe Sanctuary, Dr. Johnsgard has written numerous books on the cranes who depend upon the Platte River including A Chorus of Cranes published in 2015. From his position as an esteemed professor at the University of Nebraska and a world renowned and respected ornithologist, he has advocated for the Platte River with government officials. Many of his students have gone on to outstanding careers in education and bird research, in turn advocating for the birds. Dr. Johnsgard’s advocacy has increased public awareness of the vital role of the Platte River on the Sandhill Crane migration. The PBS special Crane Song, which featured Dr. Johnsgard, was pivotal in raising awareness by promoting the crane migration and the Platte River as one of the most spectacular wildlife events in the world.
