Solar Eclipse Multi-Sport Challenge

$20 – $50Kearney Multi-Sport Trail Challenge – Solar Eclipse 2017
Kearney Rotary – Kearney Whitewater
Kearney Rotary and the Kearney Whitewater Association have created a challenge event like no other. Kayaking, dirt trail biking, and running. Unlike traditional triathlons, this event is spread out over an entire day – and with a theme much like a solar eclipse, day will turn onto night during the challenge. Kearney has many unique outdoor recreational opportunities – including concrete trails, dirt trails, and water trails. The concrete hike and bike trail system crosses the entire city, from the west edge to Ft. Kearny southeast of town. The dirt hike and bike trails consist of hills, valleys, sharp turns, and amazing scenery. The water trails take advantage of the canal that runs through the city that was transformed into a recreational public trail.
The Multi-Sport Trail Challenge takes advantage of all 3 of these trails and sports:
-Kayaking race on the water trail in the morning
-Dirt trail bike race in the afternoon
-5K race on the concrete trails at night
Competitors can register for one, two, or all three events. Thousands of people will be visiting the Kearney area during the Great American Solar Eclipse weekend, and not all will be able to bring a kayak or bike. We want everyone to still be able to take part in this challenge.Each race will have its own winners and own prizes – not just for first, second and third place, but also a people’s choice award for best decorations or best dressed, based on a sci-fi theme. Competitors who compete all 3 challenges will be eligible for the grand prize!
