Concert Area Arts Council

For more than 40 years, the Kearney Area Arts Council has promoted the arts in our community through free summer concerts in the park, scholarships or art students and funding for local arts events.

The mission of the Kearney Area Arts Council is to expand the arts in the community, to increase diversity in the arts, to promote artists and their work and to develop activities that encourage the community to practice and appreciate the arts.

Kearney Community Theatre

Kearney Concert Association

The Kearney Concert Association has been dedicated to “Bringing Great Performances To Central Nebraska Since 1948!” All of their shows are held at the Merryman Performing Arts center and bring entertainment and cultural enrichment to every audience member.

Their mission is “to provide and promote concerts of exceptional quality at affordable prices.”

Merryman Performing Arts Center

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Merryman is a 760 seat community arts center located in an active elementary school.

The Merryman stage is a venue for more than 130 events each year. More than 62,000 people enter beautiful building each year, to enjoy quality dance, music, and theatre performances, as well as educational events and workshops that will culturally reward audiences and participants.

Minden Opera House

Constructed in 1891, MOH is a historical tribute to area arts & culture and serves as a community center for theatrical productions, conferences, weddings and much more.

The Minden Opera House is located just 20 minutes southeast of Kearney in Minden, Nebraska.

The World Theatre

The Historic World Theatre opened its doors in 1927 as a vaudeville house.  By the mid-1940’s the World was purely a movie theater but closed its doors in 2008.  Beginning in 2011, a group of locals restored the theater to its original glory.

Now it’s a nonprofit, volunteer-run theatre. The goal is to bring a better alternative to commercial Hollywood fare by celebrating the motion picture as art. It has been host to not only movie-goers, but comedy shows, weddings, viewing parties and even a haunted house.

University of Nebraska at Kearney Music, Theatre and Dance
