Home School Art Program

The spring Home School Art Program consists of one class once a month. Classes are designed to be interactive lessons that encourage students to examine objects and ideas. Over these monthly sessions, students develop a theme for a project through a variety of sequential activities including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and discussion.

Thursdays: January 16, February 20, March 19, April 16
Age: 8-18 (call for possible exceptions for younger children)
Time: 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
Cost: $30 per child (MONA members), $40 per child (non-members) for all four classes
Register by: Friday, January 10, payment due with registration.

Class size is limited to 12 students in each class. Because of space limitations, one chaperone is welcome and must be registered (at no cost). Fees are non-refundable after classes begin.

Rowe Adventures: Winter Walkabout

Come explore our trails along the Platte River to find, even in the cold months of winter, animals and insects find ways to adapt. Families and participants of all ages will also enjoy watching the feeders from the windows of the center. Make sure to dress in layers for the hike!

Want to spend the day in nature? Come to the Christmas Bird Count 4 Kids program in the morning and bring a sack lunch to enjoy for your walkabout.

No registration needed. Program is free to attend, but free will donations are encouraged.

It’s a Wonderful Life – The World Theatre

Join us for our annual FREE SCREENING of It’s A Wonderful Life hosted by TRIUS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION.

George Bailey has spent his entire life giving of himself to the people of Bedford Falls. He has always longed to travel but never had the opportunity in order to prevent rich skinflint Mr. Potter from taking over the entire town. All that prevents him from doing so is George’s modest building and loan company, which was founded by his generous father. But on Christmas Eve, George’s Uncle Billy loses the business’s $8,000 while intending to deposit it in the bank. Potter finds the misplaced money, hides it from Billy, and George’s troubles begin.

Raptors Live at the ZooZeum

Raptor Recovery will be doing a live presentation on The Central Nebraska Spine Surgery Center Stage at the ZooZeum Tuesday December 10th at 5:00. This event will feature a live falcon, hawk, and owl. Come experience this opportunity to meet these amazing birds and learn about the Raptor Recovery’s mission.

Winter Wonderland

Join us at the Archway for a magical Christmas event that the whole family will love. Enjoy a Candy Cane Hunt, a variety of Reindeer Games, Cookie Decorating, and live Christmas music. Get a warm drink at the Hot Cocoa Bar and take a family holiday photo in our giant snow globe. Santa will be here so, be sure to bring your camera and your Christmas wish list. The cost is $5/person. Rowe Sanctuary’s Holiday Open House

Join us for a Holiday Open House at Rowe Sanctuary. Enjoy some cookies and cider while browsing our Gift Shop and receive a special 10% discount on all items. Kid’s activities will be available to keep children occupied while you shop. You can also learn more about Rowe Sanctuary and our conservation work on a short hike (weather depending) along the river.

The days have gotten shorter and the leaves continue to change — all signs autumn is definitely here. But for animals, the beginning of fall means undertaking major lifestyle changes — in order to survive the winter.

Rowe Adventures: Owl Prowl

Come over to the dark side of Audubon’s Rowe Sanctuary and meet the amazing critters that make their living at night. This Owl Prowl offers an exciting multi-generational opportunity to learn more about the fascinating lives of owls and other animals that thrive at night. Fontenelle Forest will be bringing live owls for participants to see up close and learn more about. A nighttime hike to explore these animals will also occur, so be sure to dress for the weather.


Join us for candy, Halloween games, and prizes at the annual Trunk or Treat event located at the Kearney Branch, 4615 2nd Ave. Hotdogs will also be available for a freewill donation to benefit the Kearney Animal Shelter.
