Military Vehicle Preservation Association 100th Anniversary Convoy

August 28, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 9:00 am

Free

On Wednesday, August 28, 2019 the MVPA will travel through Kearney as they retrace the original 1919 US Army’s First Transcontinental Motor Convoy route, on the famed Lincoln Highway. The 2019 Military Convoy will depart on August 10, from York, PA, the site of the 2019 MVPA Annual Convention and conduct an official Convoy launch from York, PA. They will drive to Gettysburg and spend 2 nights then head west from there. Some 36 days and over 3,200 miles, the Convoy will arrive on Saturday, September 14 at Lincoln Park in San Francisco, just as the US Army Convoy did in 1919.

The tour will include about 55 Historic Military Vehicles and will travel around 30 mph for about 120-150 miles per day. Daily stopping points are planned. The Convoy’s 1st stop on August 28 will be at the Classic Car Collection in Kearney from approximately 8:30-9:00am. Then they will travel along Highway 30 through Kearney until they reach their lunch stop at the Heartland Military Museum in Lexington.

Plan to welcome the MVPA to Kearney on Wednesday, August 28, by waving to them as they travel along Highway 30 beginning at approximately 8:30am or go by the Classic Car Collection and visit with the Convoy members. As Dennis Boots, TMC ’19 Convoy XO says, “…and we’ll see you on down the road!”
