Welcome to Kearney!

Let’s start with the basics…
Kearney pronounced
/ˈkärnē/ (car + knee)

1. A colorful and exciting city situated in the heart of the Heartland.

2. The Sandhill Crane Capital of the World

Now that we got that out of the way, here are a dozen things you ought to know about Kearney.

Experience One of the Earth’s Greatest Migrations

Experience the sites and sounds of the world’s largest gathering of Sandhill Cranes during their spring migration through central Nebraska. Each spring over 650,000 Sandhill Cranes converge on the Platte River from mid-February to early-April to fuel up before continuing their journey to the northern US, Canada, Alaska, and as far as Siberia.
