The wait is over Nebraska – it’s time for us to enjoy the outdoors full force. Along with recreation, Kearney has a great array of restaurants, cafes, and breweries with outdoor seating. Whether it’s a day to enjoy yourself or you are visiting with friends, here are some of the many places to dine and drink in the sun’s warmth.

But first, coffee
Serving local Calico Coffee Co.,Kitt’s Kitchen & Coffee offers something for everyone! They got all the coffee you want as well as pastry items and an array of delicious brunch items like crêpes, sandwiches, and omelets. The atmosphere of downtown Kearney is a great place to catch up with friends.
More of a light breakfast, coffee and muffin type of gal? Head over to Barista’s on 2nd Ave for all the chill morning vibes. As you order, the cozy inside welcomes you. Head outside to enjoy your coffee on their outdoor tables.

Good food = good times
Lunch or dinner, Cunningham’s on the Lake is a great option for the whole family! Their menu is loaded with over 10 specialty burgers, quesadillas, and sandwiches and a full drink menu. Along with good eats, Cunningham’s offers a large patio seating with fireplaces, umbrellas, and heaters in the colder months. The space oversees a beautiful view of the lake with lights and a fountain at nighttime. If you have a larger group, you might want to call ahead to secure seating.
Close to the lake is Kearney-founded Angus Burgers and Shakes. Handcrafted burgers and not-your-typical milkshakes change your view on the traditional ‘burger and shake’ combo. A personal favorite is the Santa Vaca Burger which is loaded with guacamole, chipotle mayo, pepper jack cheese, and pico de gallo. Their outdoor seating offers a quiet setting and a close walk to many of the hotels.

Enjoy a flight
McQue’s Nebraska Taproom is located on the bricks. McCue’s originally opened in 1925 in downtown Kearney as a grocery store and served the community for 78 years. McCue’s features 30 taps of Nebraska Craft beer and Nebraska wine and spirits. While there is no food menu, McCue’s is open to patrons bringing in their own food. The large tables inside and outside offer for a great space to study, read a book, or sip and soak in the outdoors.
Platte Valley Taphouse is a few spaces down that offers 17 premium craft beers on tap in a variety of styles, as well as specialty pizza. The large beer garden is a great area to unwind with friends and play some yard games. Special events like live music and beer yoga can be found on their Facebook page.

Dance the Night Away
The Other Side is a craft cocktail lounge, music venue, and event space all in one. With a two-story building, the upstairs has various games and a large patio to dance, relax, or sip with others. Check it out as they are open daily and always have specials and events planned weekly.
Cunningham’s on the Bricks is their original location downtown. This bar and grill has an inviting ambiance with their full food and drink menu that can be enjoyed on the outdoor patio at all times of the day as well as a small stage inside with live entertainment of local bands.
